Golf it’s a gentleman’s sport, with rules to be followed, especially when frequenting world-class courses like Acqua Santa Golf Club. With the microclimate of Rome and year-round sun, playing golf in the eternal city is beyond compare. The most ancient Golf Club of Italy found in 1903 with one 18-hole golf course. Unique glimpses characterize this Golf course, such as over St Peter dome, mausoleum Cecilia Metella, aqueduct Claudio and San Giovanni in Laterano Basilica. Dress code at Golf Course and Practice

Ensure you’re wearing the appropriate gear, so for men tailored long trousers or shorts and golf shirts tucked in with collars or mock collars and sleeves. Long socks are recommended. Shirts with or without sleeves with collars paired with tailored trousers, shorts or skirts for women. Pay attention to detail by checking your shoes are clean, your shirttail is tucked in. Socks must cover the ankle. Shoes with metal spikes, leggings, gym suits, jeans are not allowed. When at Acqua Santa, close to the pool visit the golf shop to pick up any essentials you’re missing from leading brands such as Titleist, Footjoy, Callaway and more. Equipment

A good set of clubs makes the world of difference to a player’s game. If you’re not travelling with your own, Acqua Santa rents out equipment. Reserve your sets before travelling – each golfer must play with their own set. Acqua Santa clubhouse also offers re-gripping service to ensure the best experience.

The course

When playing on a beautiful course as the most ancient of Italy, it’s polite to maintain it. Take care of the course as you play, by replacing divots, repairing any pitch marks on the green and raking bunkers.

Refreshments

A drink and snack after a game always sounds good. Acqua Santa private clubhouse offers two options: Restaurant and Bar. The staff will be pleased to assist you during your time at the Golf Club. A Buvette is also present between hole 9 and 10.

Etiquette

Be a respectful player. For instance, don’t be the slowest player. You don’t want to hold up your teammates, or the groups behind you. If necessary, invite faster players to pass through. Secondly, control your emotions. Don’t lose your temper if a shot doesn’t go your way. Thirdly, it’s polite to be a silent partner and allow your fellow players to concentrate as they take their shots, so please silence your phone.

Getting around

A golf cart is often the most comfortable way to get around the golf course, but driving it comes with rules. Stick to designated paths and fairways. Please do not leave traces, so avoid driving over wet areas that are already damaged.
